After a detailed analysis of the energy consumption of the Property, the internal control technicians of our Energy Consulting department study and propose a series of actions to reduce and improve the costs associated with energy consumption, through an action plan under profitability criteria.
What legislation regulates energy audits in Spain?
Royal Decree 56/2016 obliges large companies and groups of companies to carry out a quality energy audit every four years. In addition, they must register each of the audited properties with the competent body of the autonomous communities where each of the facilities is located.
To comply with this regulation, the surface area occupied by the large company for the exercise of its activity, which generates 85% of the total final energy consumption, must be audited. That is to say, the company's energy expenditure, including, if any, the transport fleet linked to its activity.
How long does it take to perform a complete energy audit?
Depending on the volume of assets or properties in use with energy consumption, the audit may take longer. Also within the same Property there may be many elements that have energy consumption and require a more detailed analysis.
What kind of information do I need to provide for the audit?
How is the technical visit carried out and what does it involve?
The visit will take into account the data collection and registration of energy consumers, the measurements of the energy parameters of the auditable systems will be made. Subsequently, the analysis of the measurements made and the contrast with the energy data provided by the company will be carried out.
Another important aspect will be to obtain the current state of energy consumption and, finally, an analysis of the energy and environmental surroundings of the organization will be carried out in terms of the supply infrastructures of external energy sources, natural sources in the surroundings and the environmental impact of the surroundings on the company and of the company on the surroundings.
What happens after receiving the energy audit report?
The company's energy audit report must be registered in the Autonomous Community corresponding to the registered office of the audited company. This step is mandatory in order to comply with RD 56/2016 and for the document to be valid.
