Find out if your home is energy efficient and how to optimise its consumption

The energy certificate (EEC) is a document that allows you to demonstrate to a buyer or tenant the energy consumption and efficiency of your property. It also provides information on how to reduce energy costs and how to apply for subsidies for renovations to improve the energy profile of the property.

When do I need an energy certificate

If you want to sell or rent a property

If you want to reduce the energy consumption of your home

To apply for subsidies after renovations

If your energy certificate is more than 10 years old

What do energy certificate labels say?

The energy certificate is a document that provides information on the energy consumption of a building, classifying it on a scale of energy efficiency using labels ranging from A to G. The letter A is the most efficient and the letter G the least efficient. The letter A is the most efficient and G the least efficient. This document is mandatory for any house or building for sale or rent. It is important that the certificate is carried out by qualified technicians who guarantee a rigorous and accurate analysis. Tinsa has a network of professionals specialised in energy certification, who will advise you so that you understand the labels well and can make an informed decision.

A

A-labelled buildings are the most energy efficient buildings. They have very low energy consumption and very high energy performance. These buildings use advanced energy-saving technologies, such as LED lighting, efficient heating and cooling systems, and advanced ventilation and thermal insulation systems. A-labelled buildings are usually more expensive than less efficient buildings, but in the long run, the savings on energy bills compensate for the additional cost.

B

B-labelled buildings are energy efficient, but not as energy efficient as A-labelled buildings. Often, these buildings use more conventional energy-saving technologies, such as double-glazed windows and thermal insulation. B-labelled buildings are often more affordable than A-labelled buildings, but still offer significant savings on energy bills.

C

Buildings with a C label are less energy efficient than buildings with A and B labels. These buildings may have less advanced energy saving technologies and their energy performance is lower than buildings with higher labels. Although C-labelled buildings may be less expensive, their use may result in higher energy bills.

D

D-labelled buildings have moderately high energy consumption compared to more efficient buildings (A, B and C labels). They may have inefficient heating and cooling systems, single glazed or poorly insulated windows, or less efficient lighting equipment. D-labelled buildings may be less expensive than more efficient buildings, but still offer significant savings compared to less efficient buildings (labels E, F and G).

E

E-labelled buildings have higher energy consumption than buildings labelled A, B, C and D. They may have inefficient heating and cooling systems, single glazed windows and insufficient thermal insulation, and less efficient lighting equipment. E-labelled buildings may be less expensive than more efficient buildings, but their use may result in higher energy bills.

F

Buildings with an F label have high energy consumption compared to more efficient buildings (labels A, B, C and D). They may have outdated heating and cooling systems, leaky windows without double glazing, and poor thermal insulation. F-labelled buildings are often less expensive than more efficient buildings, but their use can result in very high energy bills.

G

G-labelled buildings have the highest energy consumption compared to the most efficient buildings (labels A, B, C, D, E and F). They may have very outdated heating and cooling systems, poorly fitted windows without double glazing, and extremely poor thermal insulation. G-labelled buildings may be cheaper than other buildings, but their use results in extremely high energy bills.

Information of interest to get the Energy Efficiency Certificate.

  • The technical report issued by Tinsa Certify S.L.U. not only determines the classification of the property through a letter between the A (the most efficient) and the G (the least efficient) based on its efficiency in energy consumption. It also includes proposals for improvement on variable characteristics of the property with the mission of reducing energy consumption. The proposed measures are in many cases important savings with reasonable investments.
  • The action procedure for the issuance of the certificate includes the review of the available documentation, the realization of a physical visit and the inscription in the registries of the corresponding Autonomous Community.
